A steep mountain pass over Blea Tarn links the valleys of Great and Little Langdale, where the blue waters of Blea Tarn gleem invitingly against the dark crags of Blake Rigg.

The renowned children's author Beatrix Potter spent much of her life at Hill Top Farm, near Sawrey. The house is open to visitors and is one the busiest National Trust Properties in the region.
