Stratford-upon-Avon is one of Britain's most famous literary cities, being the birthplace of William Shakespeare.
Stratford has many interesting places to visit, including a number of theatres and museums, as well as the many historic buildings which were all significant to the Bard.
Shakespeare was born on 23rd April 1564 at the house in Henley Street (right below), which has been called the 'most honoured monument of the world's greatest genius’. This famous portrait of the shows him in his middle age. He died 23rd April 1616.
Visitors seeking more information should make a point to see Hall’s Croft, Stratford, which was the home of Shakespeare's successful son-in-law, Dr John Hall, and his wife, who was Shakespeare's first daughter, whom he named, Susanna.
Nearby, Warwick should also not be missed. And of course, to complete a tour take in Leamington Spa, Coventry and the city of Birmingham, Britain’s ‘second city.'
