Bristol has a rich history, dating back to Saxon times, when it was the main crossing point over the river Avon.
The famous Clifton Suspension Bridge, designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel was completed in 1864, and spans the Avon Gorge at a height of 245 feet above the River Avon's high water level.
Present day Bristol is a thriving centre for the arts, and has a great deal to offer the visitor. It's features and sights range from maritime history to Georgian architecture.
Built in 1664, to be found near the quays, this is one of Bristol's famous "houses
of hospitality". The name of the inn is derived from "Llandoger"
a small fishing village on the River Wye, and "Trow", a flat-bottomed
sailing barge used in coastal waters.
Bristol has many attractions; excellent restaurants and cafe's with an abundance of good food and a wide variety of interesting shops.
Additionally there is plenty of entertainment and a vibrant nightlife all to be found around this graceful city.
